Faiz Softić (1958, Vrbe, Montenegro) is a prose writer, poet and publicist originally from Sandžak. He was educated in his hometown, Mostar and Sarajevo. The Bosnian war found him in Sarajevo, where he stayed until 1995, when he left for Luxembourg, where he still lives and works as a writer. He writes for various newspapers and magazines. He is the editor-in-chief of the magazine Bihor, which is published in Luxembourg in Bosnian and French. In addition to several collections of poetry and prose, he published three novels: Under the Kun mountain, Fear of the native house and People without an address. Based on an authentic event from Softić's hometown, the novel Under the Kun Mountain was published in several editions and translated into French, and a film script was also written based on it. His literary work is represented in the school programs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Sandžak. His books were shortlisted for the book of the year in Bosnia and Herzegovina and have been translated into French, German and Hungarian, while translations into Albanian and Turkish are underway. The Night Watchman of the Dogs is his latest novel.
