Miljenko Jergović was born on May 28, 1966 in Sarajevo. He was brought from the Koševo maternity hospital to the building of Mrs. Hajm-Peserle, on the fifth floor, the Rejc apartment. Three years later, he moved to Sepetarevac, to the Trklji house. For the last twenty-five years, while he has not lived in his hometown, he has invested in creating a fictional Sarajevo, Mejtaš and Sepetarevac, which may or may not have any connection with the real toponyms of the same name.
He is the author of about forty books of narrative prose, novels, essays and poems, as well as books of epistolary prose (with Semezdin Mehmedinović, and with Svetislav Basar). His novels and books of stories were translated into twenty languages ​​and thus published in more than a hundred different editions.

The book "Mama Leone" was first published in Zagreb in 1999, and then by the same publisher, it was printed in five editions, and in one more, within the edition of books on newsstands. It was published in eight editions in Serbia.

This is Buybook's first and the second edition of "Mama Leone" in Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Mama Leone" has been translated into English, Italian, German, Spanish, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Slovenian. In German, the book was published in three different editions.

The Italian edition was awarded the Premio Grinzane Cavour for 2003.

The American edition entered the 2013 BTBA Fiction Longlist.

The Russian Liapova won the 2014 annual award of the Association of Bulgarian Translators for the translation of "Mama Leona".
