Adam Zagajewski (Lviv, 1945 - Krakow, 2021) was one of the most significant and translated contemporary Polish poets. In addition to poetry, he also wrote prose, essays and literary criticism, and was engaged in translation. He became famous at the end of the sixties as one of the leading poets of the Polish New Wave. He is the winner of prestigious European and international literary awards, and his works have been translated into numerous languages. True Life is his last published collection of poetry.
