Irvin D. Yalom (1931) is an American existential psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at Stanford University. In addition to a series of professional books, especially on group psychotherapy, he also wrote several novellas and novels, the most famous of which are "When Nietzsche Cried", "Schopenhauer as Medicine", "The Blood of Love and Other Psychotherapeutic Novels", "The Problem of Spinoza" and others.
