Tahar Ben Jelloun (Fes, 1944) is a French-Moroccan writer and one of the most widely read writers of Francophone and post-colonial literature in North Africa. As a novelist, poet and essayist, he writes about Moroccan culture, tolerance and the burden of tradition, the immigrant experience, human rights and sexual identity. His most famous books are Child of Sand , Holy Night , Racism Explained to My Daughter and Islam Explained to Children . His works have been translated into numerous languages. The Casablanca Lovers is his latest novel.
