Brendan Simms (Dublin, 1967) is a professor in the history of international relations at the University of Cambridge. His research is focused on the history of European foreign policy, and on that he wrote numerous books and articles on the topic. With the book The Most Embarrassing Moment: Britain and the Destruction of Bosnia, which was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize for the best nonfiction work in 2002, his most significant works are Three Victories and a Defeat: The Rise and Fall of the First British Empire, 1714–1783 i Europe: The Struggle for Supremacy, 1453 to the Present. Lives and works in Cambridge.
