Hertha
Muller was born in Niţchidorf, Romania, in 1953. She studied
German Studies and Romanian Literature at the University of Timisoara. Since 1987.
lives in Berlin. She is known for her works in which she faithfully portrays
the history of the Germans in Banat and the persecution of Romanian Germans carried out by
the Stalinist regime, and later the Romanian communist regime, as well as by its
essays about the consequences of the war and his exile in Germany. She is the winner
numerous awards, including the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2009.
