Alex Michaelides (1977) was born and raised in Cyprus. He studied English literature at Cambridge and earned a master's degree in screenwriting at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. The mute patient , his first novel, was the best-selling worldwide debut of 2019. It was at the top for more than a year on the New York Times bestseller list and has been published in more than fifty countries. Michaelides lives in London.
