Margaret Mazzantini was born in 1961 in Dublin. She made her literary debut in 1994 with the novel Il catino di zinco , followed by Manola (1999) and Non ti muovere (Strega Award, European Zepter Award), which was translated into more than 30 languages, and in 2004, the notable film Bez pomak directed by Sergio Castellitto, starring Penelope Cruz, was made based on it.
After the theater monologue Zorro (2002), she published the novel Venuto al Mondo ( Born Again ), for which she received the prestigious Campiello Award. Based on this novel, a film was made in 2012, also directed by Sergio Castellitto, with the main actors Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch. Her most recent novels are Nessuno si Salva da solo and Mare al mattino .
