Maryam Madjidi (born 1980 in Tehran, Iran) is French-Iranian writer. Her parents were communists, after the Iranian revolution forced into exile. Madjidi studied literature at the Sorbonne and taught French in Beijing and Istanbul. Her first novel Marx and the Doll was welcomed is with great enthusiasm and won the Goncourt prize for the first novel, as well as the Ouest-France Etonnants Voyageurs prize.
