Damir Karakaš was born in 1967 in the village of Plašćica near Brinja in Lika. He worked as a journalist for the Black Chronicle in Split. He lived in Bordeaux and Paris where he supported himself by playing the accordion. In Paris at the New Sorbonne he studied the French language, performed performances and exhibited conceptual ones works. He published a travel book "Bosnians are good people"; collection of stories "Eskimos", "Colonel Beethoven" and "Kino Lika" directed by Dalibor Matanić filmed the film of the same name and the novels "Combetari", "How I got into Europe", "Great place for an accident'', ''Blue Moon'' and 'Memory of the Forest'. He writes plays which are performed in Croatia and abroad. It has been translated into a dozen languages. Lives in Zagreb.
