Damir Imamović (1978) is one of the most important contemporary performers of sevdah. His appearance on the music scene in 2005 produced a new wave of interest in sevdah as well as a completely new look at this old form. He was born into a family of the Sevdalian bards Đula, Zaim and Nedžad Imamović, where he came to the contact with the tradition of sevdah. He decides to pursue music professionally after years of rejecting family tradition. From 2006 to 2016 he recorded six albums, the last two of which represent Sevdah Takht Damir Imamović. The latest album Dvojka was produced by Chris Eckman (Tamikrest, Bassekou Kouyate), and was released by the prestigious Glitterbeat Records in April 2016. year. Since 2011, he has been working as an educator within the workshop program and SevdahLab lectures.
