Amir Husak works in New York as an independent multimedia artist and lecturer. He holds an MA in Media and Film from The New School in New York. During his studies, he began working with photography, documentary film and new media. He has participated in international film festivals and exhibitions including South by Southwest (USA), Stadtmuseum Graz (Austria), BELEF (Serbia), ArtHouse Mocha Delhi (India), Sundance Film Festival (USA), Sarajevo Film Festival (BiH), Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (USA), TV Cultura (Brazil), as well as Full Frame Film Festival (USA). As a Fulbright scholar in the academic year 2012/13, he conducted research on the marginalization of immigrants and the right to the city at the Institute for Social Sciences at Humboldt University in Berlin. Between 2009 and 2011, he founded and edited the independent digital magazine No Commercial Value . As a mentor and expert advisor at the Union Docs Center for Documentary Arts in Brooklyn (USA), he regularly organizes and leads workshops on socially engaged documentary practice. He currently teaches in the Department of Media and Documentary Film at The New School, New York University.
