Rezak Hukanović was born in 1949 in Prijedor. Until the book Tenth Gate of Hell, he published six collections of poems.
Before the war, he was a journalist, and occasionally worked on local radio. He owned a private radio station in Prijedor, which was taken away from him after his arrest in May 1992.
During his exile in Norway, he was the editor-in-chief of the Moja BiH newspaper.
The book The Tenth Gate of Hell has been translated into several languages.
