Prof. Dr. Hariz Halilović is a social anthropologist at the Centre for Global Research at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Halilović's research interests focus on politically motivated violence, forced migration and translocal cultural identities. Halilović is the author of Places of Pain , published in two editions, 2013 and 2015, by Berghahn Books: Oxford – New York.
This anthropological study on the consequences of violence on local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian diaspora won second place in the prestigious The Prose Awards competition, in the category for the best book in archaeology and anthropology published in the United States in 2013.
Halilović has also been awarded as a writer of fiction and essays.
