Alex Ferguson was born in 1941 in Govan, Scotland. The centre-forward later moved to Rangers, the club he has supported since childhood, for a Scottish record fee of £65,000.

Entering management in 1744, he managed East Sterlingshire and St. Mirren, before leading Aberdeen to the 1982–83 Cup Winners' Cup. Upon his arrival at Manchester United in 1986, he helped them win 38 trophies, including the Club World Cup, two Champions Leagues, thirteen Premier League titles and five FA Cups. His collection of 49 trophies makes him the most successful British manager of all time.

Knighted in 1999, Sir Alex announced his retirement in 2013, when United won the Premier League again. At the age of seventy-one, he still serves United as a director.
