Rudolph Ditzen alias Hans Fallada (1893–1947), one of the most widely read German writers, begins his life's career as treasurer and manager of noble estates, then he worked as a bookkeeper (1915–1925), and from 1928 to 1931 he tried and as an employee in a publishing house, which will introduce him to the world of books. In the area fiction debut with the novel Dobri Goedeschal (1920), and world fame achieved only with the multiple translated novel Mali čovjece - what now? (1932). Followed by the works Peasants, gentlemen and bombs (1932), Who once eats from Tin Can (1934), Iron Gustav (1938), Everyone Dies Alone (1934). During the Nazi era, Fallada lived as persona non grata away from the public eye in to his estate in Mecklenburg. The novel One Man striving for the top (1932) saw several editions, and in 1978, according to him A very successful German TV series of the same name was filmed in 13 episodes.
