V, formerly Eve Ensler (Scarsdale, New York, 1953) is a Tony Award-winning American playwright, author, performer, and activist. She is the author of the international best-selling, Obie Award-winning theatrical phenomenon The Vagina Monologues , published in nearly fifty languages ​​and performed in over one hundred and forty countries.

She is the author of many plays and books, including the New York Times bestseller I Am an Emotional Being . She adapted her extremely acclaimed memoir In the Body of the World into a play, which was praised by both critics and the audience.

Her play The Vagina Monologues spawned V-Day, a global activist movement to end gender-based violence. Through various charitable productions of her artwork, the V-Day movement has raised over $100 million and funded more than 13,000 community-based violence programs and shelters around the world. Ensler is the founder of One Billion Rising, the largest global grassroots action to end violence against women and girls. She is a co-founder, along with Christine Schuler Deschryver and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, of City of Joy, a groundbreaking center for women survivors of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
