Rana Dasgupta was born in 1971 in Canterbury, England. He studied at Oxford and Wisconsin. With the collection Tokyo Cancelled , published in 2005, he was shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Award. For the novel Solo, he won the Commonwealth Writers' Award for Best Book in 2010.
He lives in Delhi, India.
