Mehmed Begić (Čapljina, 1977), author of several poetry collections (including Opasan čovjek and Nesvrstane pjesme ), as well as a book of improvisations in prose Letters from Panama: detective jazz , has spent the last ten years in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. He is one of the founders of the Mostar-based magazine Kolaps . He is a regular contributor to the online magazine Žurnal (Sarajevo), the e-zine Blesok (Skopje), as well as the magazines Tema (Zagreb) and Enklava (Belgrade). His translations of Leonard Cohen's poems were published in the collection Moj život u umjetnosti , izbarana poezija i pjesme (Alternative Institute, Mostar, 2003). He studies Hispanic poetry with Damir Šodana (they translated the book of selected poems Smrt u Tangeru by Leopoldo Marío Panero), while at the same time he is in an ongoing musical conspiracy with the multi-instrumentalist and producer Nedim Zlatar. He currently lives in Madrid.
