We are pleased to invite you to the promotion of the book "Forgotten Treasure 2" by Semir Vranić, Zanin Berbić and Damir Galijašević, which will be held on Thursday, December 28th, starting at 7:00 PM at the Bosniak Institute in Sarajevo. The discussion with the authors will be led by Hana Vranac.
After the book "Forgotten Treasure", published in 2021, was successfully received by the public, a second book called "Forgotten Treasure 2" was published, which brings another hundred Bosnian lyrical folk songs, which are rarely sung or not sung at all, and are unknown to a wide audience.
When creating the anthology, the composers were guided by aesthetic criteria (the beauty of the text and melody) as a basis for selecting the songs. For all one hundred songs in this anthology there are preserved audio recordings, but they are often kept in hard-to-reach archives or private collections. Most of them are Sevdalinka, but also a certain number of ballads, romances, lullabies, wedding and humorous folk songs. Each text is accompanied by a corresponding notation, detailed information about the origin of the song and its variants, the first notes and the interpreters, narrators and recorders of the songs. In this way, we wanted to give recognition to all those who diligently preserved and recorded the rich Bosnian oral lyrical treasure over the past decades, even centuries. At the end of the anthology there is a list of all the narrators, interpreters, recorders of folk songs, and a bibliography of all written and audio materials, which were used in the preparation of the second book "Forgotten Treasure".
