The Buybook publishing house will once again present its publications at the Interliber fair in Zagreb, in pavilion 6 at stand 5E.
When talking about domestic authors, we should mention “Intimate Correspondence” by Dario Džamonja, the first book published in the new Buybook edition “Sandook” edited by Selvedin Avdić, then the novel “Kopča” by Nirha Efendić, “Ispod kućne streh” by Faiz Softić, “Nemoj da ideš, dušo” by Farah Tahirbegović, “Godina bez proljeća” by Adnan Repeša, “Šušanj” by Almin Kaplan, “Otkrivenje” by Edin Urjan Kukavica, “Škriptaji kože” by Amila Kahrović Posavljak, “Zlatni shler” by Almir Imširević, “Ahmići: Osam dana 13estogozidni Adnan” by Thomas Obruča, and “Recapitulation” by Svetislav Basara.
We particularly highlight translations of foreign novels and those that have been shortlisted or have won important literary awards, such as the novel “Time Shelter”, this year’s winner of the International Booker Prize, Georgi Gospodinov, “Black Butterflies” by Priscilla Morris, a novel that has been shortlisted for the Woman’s Prize for Fiction, RSL Ondaatje Prize and Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award 2023. There is also the novel “Home” by German author Judith Hermann, who has been awarded a large number of awards so far, including “Hugo Ball”, “Heinrich von Kleist”, “Friedrich Hölderlin”, “Erich Fried” and “Blixenprisen”, then the novel “The Door to Secrets” by the currently most widely read Turkish author, Ahmet Umit, “The Stone and the Shadow” by Burhan Sonmez, winner of the “Vaclan Havel” and EBRD awards, a collection of stories, “The Forest in the House” by the currently most widely read and translated Czech writer Alena Mornštajnova, “I Must Betray You” by the American writer of Lithuanian roots by Ruta Sepetys, winner of the prestigious British Carnegie Medal, “The Evolution of Myopia and Other Stories” by Brazilian author Clarice Lispector, a selection prepared for the Buybook edition by Pulitzer Prize winner Benjamin Moser, “The Wizard”, a new novel by the popular and award-winning Irish writer Colm Toibin, “Jadvertising” by Ennis Ćehić, “The One Who Stays” by Bulgarian writer and screenwriter Renee Karabaš, “Ask Miječka” by Ukrainian writer Evgenia Kuznetsova, a poetry collection “A Woman Without Shame” by American writer Sandra Cisneros, “Singing Birds”, a new novel by Christy Lefteri, whose novel “The Beekeeper from Aleppo” won over the audience, “Side Streets” by Perhat Tursun, a leading Uyghur author, a new edition of the popular novel “Shadows of the Pomegranate Tree” by Tarik Ali, “Mountain of Myrrh” by Guide Snell, “As the Night Flies” by French author of Bosnian and Montenegrin roots Yakuta Alikavazović and many others.
This year, Buybook also published Marija Todorova's major work, "Imaginary Balkans", and fans of non-fiction will also be delighted by the book "Literature without Borders (Studies on Contemporary Literature, Transnational Literary America and Transnational Literary Bosnia and Herzegovina)" by Selma Raljević.
Lovers of poetry will be pleased to hear that the collection "Shameless Woman" by the American author Sandra Cisneros has been translated from English, followed by Darko Cvijetić's "Collections of Fear", which contains three lesser-known Cvijetić's books - "Manifesto of Young Bosnia", "Mass Postcards from Bosnia" and "Small Exhumation Essays", and "My Mama Knows What Happens" by Radmila Petrović.
Two books from the newly launched Buybook edition "Words in Motion" will be available at Interliber, namely "Strictly Tracked Trains" by Bohumil Hrabal, and "Mission London" by the Bulgarian author Alek Popov. With the launch of this edition, the Buybook publishing house presents to the readers eight literary works whose narratives have been transformed into famous film productions.
For the youngest readers, we have prepared a series of books by the popular Spanish author Susanna Isern – “The Squirrel Can’t Say No”, “The Raccoon Always Wants to Be First” and “The Liar Fox”, a new book by the popular Turkish author Anıli Basılıj “Let Me Read!”, “It Can Be Different!” by the Turkish author Asli Tohomcu, “The Loneliest Shark in the Sea” by John Freeman, “Nal’s World” by Dean Nicholson, and children’s books by domestic authors – “The Wonderful World” and “The Little Tiger” by Vesna Mišanović, “Magic Crayons” and “Pearl Feathers” by Amer Tikveša, and “Ena” and “The Boy Çak” by Vedad Drljević.
Sanela Mihalić will have her presentation at Interliber, who will present her new book "Fifty" in conversation with Jagna Pogačnik. The presentation is planned for 12.11. in pavilion 6 starting at 2 p.m.
