The publishing house Buybook will once again present its publications at the Zagreb Interliber fair, in Pavilion 6, this year. When it comes to domestic authors, it is worth mentioning the Dnevnik edition edited by writer Semezdin Mehmedinović, which has published five titles so far – “Crveni kofer” by Lana Bastašić, “Kućni ljudi” by Almin Kaplan, “Mali smakovi” by Selvedin Avdić, “Adolfove uši” by Marko Pogačar and “Prošle godine u Barnetu” by Predrag Finci.
Buybook's author and editor Almin Kaplan has prepared the book "Conversations with Mark", conceived as a book about poetry and the life of a poet, Marko Vešović. It is divided into three cycles and depicts Vešović's childhood, growing up in Sarajevo, the days of the siege, and his life after the war. It is a book about an experience of poetry and poetry, about translating and interpreting poetry. This summer, Buybook also published Vešović's "Three Books", a book that includes his three poetry collections , "Polish Cavalry" in an updated edition, "The Book of Complaints", and a previously unpublished collection entitled "Po suhu đemija".
The novel that has won over the readership in a short period of time is “The Fourth Violin” by Saša Savić, a very successful manager who built his career in the USA. Aleksandar Hemon pointed out that Savić Savić is one of the most intelligent and witty people he knows, but also that the talented novelist in him is a completely new discovery. We are pleased to invite you to the presentation of this novel, which will be held on 12.11. in Pavilion 7, starting at 3 p.m. The author will be interviewed by literary critic, editor and translator Jagna Pogačnik.
Boro Kontić, whose book "Grebo" is one of Buybook's capital editions, will also have his presentation at Interliber. The presentation is planned for 10.11. in pavilion 6 starting at 5 p.m. The book will be presented by Miljenko Jergović and Vesna Pusić.
We especially highlight the translations of foreign novels and those that have been selected or are winners of important literary awards, such as the novel "The Pear Field" by the Georgian writer Nana Ekvtimishvili, which was shortlisted for the International Booker, the new novel of one of the most read young authors and rising star, Sally Rooney, entitled "Wonderful World, Where Are You", then the new novel of the multi-awarded Rabih Alameddin, "The Wrong End of the Telescope", and the novel "Human Things". by the French writer Karine Tuil, based on which the film of the same name was made.
Two novels by Macedonian authors will be available on Interliber, "Madžun" by one of the most translated Macedonians, Vlado Urošević, and "Dissomnia" by the young author Igor Stanojoski.
Lovers of poetry will be pleased to hear that the collection "State of Siege" has been translated from Arabic and published. Mahmoud Darwish, one of the most influential and translated contemporary Palestinian poets, and Selma Asotić is this year's winner of the "Stjepan Gulin" award for the poetry collection "Say Fire" published by Buybook.
For the youngest readers, we have prepared two books by the most widely read Turkish writer, Ahmet Ümit, “A Fairy Tale Within a Fairy Tale” and “Neverland”. These are unforgettable stories complemented by original illustrations that bring the classic fairy tale to life with their themes and the beauty of storytelling. There is also the extremely humorous book “The Little Frog” by the Danish cartoonist, writer and illustrator, Jakob Martin Strid. We should also mention “The Giraffe’s Word” by the Turkish author Anıli Basılıj, whose children’s books are breaking reading records in Turkey.
Nine out of a total of ten planned titles from the 100 in 10 edition will also be available at Interliber. The audience has the opportunity to read top works in excellent translations. Some of the published works in literature have previously positioned themselves as classics, such as "Jokes", "The Street of Crocodiles and Other Stories", "Someone Else's Blood" or "The Tin Drum", and some will be available in Bosnian for the first time, such as "The Traveler on One Leg" by Nobel laureate and one of the most widely read contemporary authors Herta Müller, "The Charm of Satan" by Grigory Kanovich, winner of the prestigious EBRD Literary Award, an author who has been declared by critics as one of the most significant contemporary Jewish authors, the novel "My (Co)sensations" by the rising Portuguese author Dulce Maria Cardoso, winner of the European Literary Award, "Countries of Others" by Lejla Slimani, winner of the Goncourt Prize and personal representative of French President Emmanuel Macron for the promotion of the French language and culture, or the novel "On the Wrong Track" by one of the most widely read Swedish crime writers Henning Mankell.
