Harmony, togetherness, imagination, understanding of nature and acceptance of one's own individuality are the themes with which these picture books will awaken the love of reading in children.
Today, when more and more children choose a mobile phone instead of a picture book/book and entertainment that requires almost no mental effort and does not contribute to the development of imagination, writing children's literature is a big challenge. The youngest readers, especially when their attention spans are reduced to a minimum, can be very harsh critics. As Muris Idrizović states in his book Children's Literature , to write children's literature you need to know children's intuition and their ability to distinguish something that is art from what is not. Children are sensitive to any norming, teaching and counseling. Some poems they will not read, they will be dead things to them, and no one can induce them to pick up a poem just because it is meant for them. The Buybook publishing house pays a lot of attention to children's literature, especially picture books, which represent the first window into the world of literature.
Picture books are a bond, a communication line between parents and children, precisely because they provide adults with the opportunity to somehow shape children's imagination and worldview, through interesting text and colorful illustrations. This is why the content of picture books should always have a very simple but clear lesson. Such are the picture books Dječak Čak (illustrated by Hanna Mujagić) and Ena (illustrated by Martina Reč), authored by Vedad Drljević, and Pearls and Magic Crayons , authored by Amer Tikveša, illustrated by Hanna Mujagić.
Whether it's a rash boy named Chuck, a stubborn little girl Annie, a jealous rooster or magical crayons, in all these picture books the main heroes/heroines are emphatically independent and headstrong. Reading the lines of the text, which is often full of rhymes and is easy to read, the youngest readers understand that the heroes and heroines must change their original attitude, and that change will bring them joy. The boy Chuck meets a talking cat who grants him several wishes. However, Chuck's last wish is rash and leads to a kind of punishment that has a didactic function - So, children, think twice before making a wish! Stubborn Ena only wants to eat pancakes and French fries, runs away from home and wanders into the forest where, like Alice in Wonderland, she gets smaller and smaller, until the animals advise her that she must eat fruits and vegetables in order to grow. A rooster, jealous of the peacock's colorful feathers, refuses to crow until he realizes that his feathers are his pearls, and becomes a proud rooster who will always get up before the sun shines and put on a morning concert. The magical crayons that argue at the "Bajka" kindergarten over which one is the most important and most needed for children's drawings, realize that they are all equally important and that it is most beautiful when they are together.
