Nijaz Mujkanović survived the suffering and horrors of the death camps in the Omarska mine and on Manjača mountain. In his own notes, made while writing the section about the author, he wrote: „My parents, Islam and Unka, had six sons – Smail, Besim, Nijaz, Dijaz, Said and Samir. Three of their sons ended up in different camps in Bosnia...“
